I am an environmental philosopher and Assistant Professor at Appalachian State University. I completed my doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Oregon and my Masters in Environmental Philosophy at University of Montana. My scholarly work focuses on intersections between environmental ethics, feminism, and geology.
I regularly teach both in the traditional indoor classroom and in the field. I have taught outdoors for over 15 years in several US states with a number of environmental nonprofits. I currently teach expedition-based upper-division college courses through Wild Rockies Field Institute.
I love to be outside, where I especially enjoy backpacking, birding, running, canoeing, and rock climbing. I am also fond of the rituals of bread-making and coffee-brewing.
I use she/her pronouns.
My name is pronounced KEER-stin WALD-kay-nig.
